..  Wildcats Season Ended in State Playoffs 3rd Round

Our FHS Wildcat football team ended it's season Friday night with a 38-26 loss to Lineville. But what a great year for the Wildcats it was. With an 8-2 regular season record, the cats entered the playoffs and made it farther that any team in Fultondale history...the 3rd round. The cats defeated two pretty good teams in Sand Mountain and Red Bay. But the powerful Lineville offense proved too much for the Wildcats as missed opportunities plagued our team.  On a brighter note, this Wildcat team broke many school records on their way to a final 10-3 season. Even better than that, FHS loses only five seniors to graduation which makes the future look bright for next years team. Way to go Wildcats, we are so proud of what you have accomplished this year.

FHS Teacher of the Month - January

Fultondale High School's January teacher of the month is Mr. Mike Gillespie.  Mr. Gillespie is a 1981 graduate of Fultondale High.  He received his college degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 1986. He has an education degree with a music concentration

and a minor in mathematics.  After spending two years as the band director at Curry High School in Walker county, Mike became the band director at his old alma mater in 1989.  He has held that positition for the last 23 years.

Mr. Gillespie and his wife, Shannon, are raising two kids as well as two dogs (Ashley and Molly). Mike enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys music and playing golf. When asked "What do you look forward to in life?", he answered "sleep!". We asked Mr. Gillespie how much longer he planned to teach before retirement.  He said, "As long as it's fun and I enjoy coming to work I plan to hang around."  We hope that's for a long time.

Congratulations to Mike Gillespie, Fultondale High's January teacher of the month.
